According to Jim Wyatt, Senior Writer/Editer of TitansOnline.com, t he Tennessee Titans have relieved Ken Whisenhunt of his head coaching duties. They have named Mike Mularkey as interim head coah. He was servng as assistant head oach/tight ends coach.
Ken Whisenhunt was just 3 - 20 with the Titans, and really had no answers as to how to win with this team. Whisenhunt was supposed to be an offensive-minded coach. The last 4 games the Titans offense scored 13, 10, 7 and 6 points.
With the season not completely out of reach due to the state of the AFC South, the Titans either needed to make a change in an attempt to salvage a chance to capture the division or they needed to write off yet another year with the possibility of writing off their fans as well.
Mike Mularky was a highly successful offensive coordinator for both the Steelers and Falcons, and has served as the tight ends coach since 2014.
Just as surprising as the firing is that we actually heard from Amy Adams-Strunk, Titans controlling owner. "We have expected more progress on the field, and I felt it was time to move in a different direction. I would like to thank Ken for his efforst with our team, as he worked very hard to try to move us forward," said Adams-Strunk.
The list of failures are too numerous to mention at this time, but needless to say the future of the Titans are in different hands now. The only question I have now is, Who's next? ...Ruston Webster, you might want to start collecting boxes for your office.
