My Thoughts on the Titans 2014 Draft (Round 1)

1st Round (11th Overall Pick)

Taylor Lewan

Height: 6' 7"
Weight: 309 lbs
Age: 22
College: Michigan

Pros:

  • Great size for the position
  • Quick feet
  • Has a good eye for the point of attack
  • Great 1st step
  • Mean streak

Cons:

  • Has trouble with focus, especially with penalties
  • Allows defensive attacks to reach his chest and stand him up
  • Still a little raw

 My Take:

When the Titans made their 1st round selection, my first response was "What? Why did we sign Michael Oher?". However, after seeing some of the pre-draft potential picks get grabbed up by other teams (CB Gilbert and LB Barr). Also, from what I have read and seen, this guy is the real deal, too good to pass up. I have to admit, it hurts to think our 1st round pick has a potential to ride the bench for the first year. That being said, Michael Roos is on the last year of his contract, and not getting any younger. Also, Michael Oher is recovering from injuries and also reaching the final years of his career. So, this might be the shrewdest pick of the first round.

Nicely done Titans. Didn't see that one coming.
